The City of Ember is a national best selling children’s book. The goal for this project was to re-imagine the cover and bring the story to life through a handmade process. The main theme throughout the book is that no matter how brilliant the construction, not all beauty can last forever. This theme was captured through the combination of ground coconut husks, soil, hot glue, and gold paint. Creating a tangible feeling of ruin, and offering a glimpse of the book’s adventurous tale.
